Walking up to the TAJ was one of the most surreal experiences I have ever had in my life.
In my most recent travel to India, I had set out an intention to go see the Taj Mahal “one of the 7 wonders of the world.” I had always heard about the Taj and its exquisite beauty but never imagined how impressionable it was really going to be. I had flown to India into the country’s capital of “New Delhi “ where I spent 2 days there before heading to the city of Agra where the Taj Mahal stands. The drive from New Delhi to Agra was about 3 hours, and, needless to say, driving in India is anything but boring. Navigating through the disorderly traffic, bumpy roads, pedestrians, and animals are definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Walking up to the Taj was literally like an optical illusion. The great entrance to the Taj is designed such that, when looking in from a distance, the entire Taj fits perfectly into the seemingly small opening I had walked through. As I walked closer and closer to the Taj, it had seemed to have grown larger and larger.
